World Cup Soccer: Who’s In? Who’s Out?
From June 12-July 13, Vino Levantino is showing afternoon and evening World Cup games on a projection screen so humongous it’s turning the entire front wall a nice shade of emerald. During the game you can take advantage of Vino Levantino’s World Cup special—2 beers and a plate of hummus for $20—while debating FIFA rankings.
Levantines seem to have missed the boat this year, but maybe they’re on the rise. FIFA thinks Israel is one of the best movers since it miraculously moved from the 78th to the 75th spot. Hey, it’s not easy training under the blistering desert sun with all that sand slowing you down. Another thing: Why is 35th ranking Turkey not on the field when 37th ranking Ghana made it? And why is 12th ranking Greece, above 13th ranking USA, so much better than Turkey (in soccer—lest I provoke an international incident), when it lies just a hop skip and a jump across the Aegean?
Even though world domination on the soccer field might not be in the near future for Levantines, for the next month you can binge on soccer to your heart’s content at Vino Levantino.
